Celebrating Nele Boss: Apex Social’s 1st Place Apex Care Professional of the Year Award 2025
At Apex Social, we proudly celebrate the remarkable journeys of our Apex Care Professionals, whose expertise and dedication shine through in the lives of the families they support. Nele Boss, named our 1st Place Apex Social Care Professional of the Year Award 2025, exemplifies the core values of the Apex Transformative 360 Experience—an interconnected ecosystem of connection, support, and growth. Her journey underscores the transformative power of individualized care, cultural exchange, and personal growth, all while contributing to a more inclusive world and stronger families.
A Heart for Every Child’s Journey
23-year-old Nele Boss, a Special Needs Care Provider from Baden-Württemberg, located in the southwestern part of Germany, has always been passionate about working with children. She discovered Apex Social through a unique collaboration between her vocational training school, Bfz Fürth. This partnership provides students with an international continuing education experience, allowing them to apply their skills in a real-world setting, all while growing both personally and professionally.
Throughout her career, Nele has gained extensive experience working with children diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, and Hearing Loss. During her training at Bfz Fürth, she worked closely with a 5-year-old boy with autism, where she helped him learn simple gestures to communicate, leading to significant progress in his ability to express his needs. This experience reinforced her understanding of the importance of individualized care and how each child’s unique journey should be celebrated.
Nele’s approach is rooted in flexibility. She recognizes that every child has their own rhythm, and it’s essential to adjust methods to fit their needs. For instance, when working with children on the autism spectrum, Nele understands the importance of maintaining consistent routines while also adapting tasks and worksheets to suit each child’s abilities. Whether modifying activities or adjusting learning techniques, Nele ensures that each child receives the right support to thrive.
Nele also utilizes various therapeutic methods, such as “Learning On The Model,” where she demonstrates tasks before children try them on their own. She also breaks down activities into manageable steps to prevent overwhelming them. Nele encourages collaborative learning, where children can support one another, and uses positive reinforcement to keep them motivated. Her compassionate, flexible approach allows her to provide meaningful care that fosters both growth and independence.
From the very beginning, Nele understood that every child is unique. As she says, “The most important thing is to measure a child’s progress against their own journey, not anyone else’s.” This mindset continues to guide her work, ensuring that she meets each child where they are and helps them reach their full potential.
Making a Difference with the Binberg Family
When Nele joined the Binberg family in Sherman Oaks, CA, November 2023, she quickly became more than just a caregiver—she became a part of their heart and home. The family was seeking support for their three children—JP (9), Buddy (7), and Mina (5)—each with their own unique needs. JP and Buddy both have Autism, ADHD, and anxiety, while Mina was beginning to face new challenges with anxiety, sensory sensitivities, and social struggles. Nele’s compassionate, patient approach was exactly what they needed during a time of transition.
“Nele didn’t just provide care—she became part of our family,” said Joelle, the Host Family mom. “Her work with our kids has been nothing short of life-changing. She didn’t just help them grow; she helped us see them in a new light.”
However, the Binberg family’s life took a sharp turn when, just after making major career changes, their youngest child, Mina, began exhibiting severe anxiety, behavioral issues at school, and heightened sensory sensitivities. Soon after, their eldest son, JP, had a traumatic encounter at school that sent him spiraling emotionally, causing significant setbacks. As if that wasn’t enough, the family also found themselves navigating new job roles, managing the emotional needs of their children, and handling unexpected school applications for all three kids. And just when they thought things couldn’t get more overwhelming, they were forced to evacuate their home in Los Angeles due to the imminent threat of fire.
In the midst of all this, Nele remained a steady and unwavering presence. “Through every challenge, Nele has only drawn closer to us,” Joelle shared. “When we had to pack up in a rush to evacuate, she stayed by my side, cracking jokes and keeping my spirits up. I kept telling her to take a break, but she insisted, ‘I’ll defend our family with everything I am.’ To us, Nele isn’t just a caregiver—she’s part of our family now. We call her ‘our Nele,’ and the thought of not having her here every day is simply unthinkable.”
For Nele, living with the Binbergs and becoming deeply integrated into their daily routine was a transformative experience. It deepened her understanding of what it truly means to support a child’s development—not just as a professional, but as someone fully invested in their growth and well-being. Through individualized therapy, play-based learning, and authentic connections, Nele helped the children build confidence and develop new skills. “Before Nele, our boys struggled to focus and manage their emotions,” Joelle shared. “Now, they’re more confident, engaged, and eager to interact with others. Mina has also grown more comfortable in her own skin and learned healthier ways to express herself.”
Reflecting on her time with the family, Nele shared, “This journey has been more meaningful than I ever imagined. It’s not just about working with the children—it’s about being there for the entire family. The relationships I’ve built here have shaped who I am, and I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of their lives.”
