BeHive Therapy
A Place Of Fun, Empowerment, and Bee-ing Yourself
BeHive is a private play therapy practice with one simple goal: Empowering every child to spread their wings and soar to new heights.
Their hive is a space where children can play to express themselves, explore emotions, and tackle life’s challenges in a safe and encouraging environment.
Of course, every bee is unique, which is why they offer a truly customized and client-centered approach that’s tailored to the needs of each child and family. From day one, they work with parents, educators, and other members of each child’s community to build a buzzing support system that allows kids to thrive.
Meet the Founder, Sammi Strahl
Sammi is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about empowering kids to reach their potential. Above all, she practices with empathy, warmth, a sense of humor, and of course, a playful presence.
Prior to BeHive, Sammi spent over a decade working with children aged 2-18 and their families in both individual and group environments. Sammi spent four years as a group counselor at a special education school before moving into the private sector, seeing clients for individual play therapy and social skills groups. Throughout this time, Sammi worked closely with teachers, speech and language specialists, occupational and behavioral therapists, and parents and caregivers, to support children across all developmental domains.
Sammi received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Social Work from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work.
Their Services
Play Therapy
At BeHive, play therapy gives children the opportunity to explore challenges, build emotional awareness, and develop coping skills, all while doing what they do best: playing!
Play Groups
For their younger bees (ages 2-4), play groups are an excellent way to learn social, emotional, and play skills, and prepare for entry into the classroom, while also making new friends!
School Services
By collaborating with local educators and related professionals, they are able to offer in-classroom observations and play therapy sessions at school, giving your child the tools to succeed in one of their most familiar environments.
Social Skills Support
Social skills sessions give children the opportunity to continue practicing their social, emotional, and play skills through collaborative, hands-on activities. All social skills sessions are uniquely tailored to the age, interests, and goals of the child.
