One family’s heartwarming journey with Apex Social Group showcases how we helped them move from worry to relief through trusted support. Their story highlights the emotional decision to find a care professional who truly “gets it” – someone who caters to their child’s unique needs like a second nature, seamlessly integrating into their family life. It’s a testament to overcoming doubts and discovering harmony and support within their own home.

“When I began the process of interviewing candidates at Apex-Social, I was filled with a mix of nervousness and excitement. It was a significant decision as I was about to welcome someone into my home who would provide crucial support for my 13-year-old son with autism.

My journey started by talking through my needs with a Family Advisor, who helped me identify more clearly what I wanted beyond the immediate things I was looking for help with and understand how this would look in relation to my budget.

I started reviewing profiles of potential candidates, aiming to find the one who could best meet my son’s needs while seamlessly integrating into our unique family dynamic, which combined American culture with aspects of German culture

After the initial round of interviews, I still had some uncertainty about whether any of the candidates were the perfect fit. This prompted further discussions via email and informal text conversations. The first interview focused on gathering factual information related to the position. The second interview was designed to assess compatibility between the Host Family and Care Professional, ensuring that our personalities were in harmony for a successful working partnership.

In the end, I made the decision to offer the position to a 21-year-old Special Needs Care Provider. I felt a strong sense of security and safety with this candidate, knowing she was the right fit for our family. She possessed a good-hearted nature, a genuine passion for helping people, and an impressively diverse background and skill set in working with the special needs population.” – Amanda Shapre, Host Mother of a Son with Autism
